Our place of residence: Afferden (Limburg)
Located in the province of North Limburg (south east NL) on the banks of the river Maas. You will find purchasing options in the town of Nieuw- Bergen. The other villages in our municipality are: Siebengewald, Bergen, Ayen, Well and Wellerlooi. The German border is just 4 miles away. Afferden is focused on tourism, among other things. You wil find many camp sites and in addition various restaurants in the village itself and in the surrounding area. Several B&Bs have been opend in recent years. Do you have a pet and would you like to place him/her in a boarding house, daycare or long, you can contact the animal hotel “De Papenheuvel”. The National Park “De Maasduinen” is a very large park with a lot of sand dunes. Very pleasant for a (long) walk. There are also plenty of water sports options on the border of the river Maas. If you want to experience a bit of culture, a visit to the ruins of Bleijenbeek is a good idea. Do you want to play golf go to this golf course. In the church village of Bergen you will find a gallery/art house “De Bakkerij”. The owners are happy to show you around (usually by appointment). As mentioned earlier, you can reach Germany in no time via the border crossing in Siebengewald. The neares town is Goch where you can enjoy shopping. Alcohol and tobacco are much more cheaper as in The Netherlands. Afferden: a place to spend your holidays.
